چکیده
RESULTS: The specific medial tibial contusion was demonstrated in 25 of 215 (12%) knee MR examinations. Associated anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears were found in 25 of the 25 (100%) examinations. Injury to the meniscocapsular junction (14 of 25) or a peripheral tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus (10 of 25) occurred in a combined 96% of the cases. Lateral compartment contusions were noted in 24 (96%) cases. Pivot, twisting, or valgus forces were reported mechanisms of injury.

Image-based musculoskeletal modeling: applications, advances, and future opportunities.
Computer models of the musculoskeletal system are broadly used to study the mechanisms of musculoskeletal disorders and to simulate surgical treatments. Musculoskeletal models have historically been created based on data derived in anatomical and biomechanical studies of cadaveric specimens. MRI offers an abundance of novel methods for acquisition of data from living subjects and is revolutioni...
متن کاملUpdate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Research
CONTEXT Musculoskeletal ultrasound (US) research is expanding due to increased clinical utility of sonography. STUDY DESIGN Clinical review. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Level 4. RESULTS Ultrasound is widely applied in musculoskeletal imaging and sports medicine. The real-time capabilities and favorable cost profile of US make it ideal for use in diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions. The enthusia...
متن کاملAdvances and utility of diagnostic ultrasound in musculoskeletal medicine
Musculoskeletal ultrasound (US) can serve as an excellent imaging modality for the musculoskeletal clinician. Although MRI is more commonly ordered in the United States for musculoskeletal problems, both of these imaging modalities have advantages and disadvantages and can be viewed as complementary rather than adversarial. For diagnostic US, relative recent advances in technology have improved...
متن کاملImaging evaluation of musculoskeletal tumors.
In this chapter, we review different imaging modalities, including radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and nuclear medicine scintigraphy, and their application to musculoskeletal neoplasm. Advantages and limitations of each modality are reviewed, and suggestions for imaging approach are provided.
متن کاملSonoelastography in the musculoskeletal system: Current role and future directions
Ultrasound is an essential modality within musculoskeletal imaging, with the recent addition of elastography. The elastic properties of tissues are different from the acoustic impedance used to create B mode imaging and the flow properties used within Doppler imaging, hence elastography provides a different form of tissue assessment. The current role of ultrasound elastography in the musculoske...
متن کاملArtifacts in musculoskeletal ultrasonography.
During the past 2 decades, high-resolution ultrasonography (US) has been increasingly utilized in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal trauma and diseases with results comparable with MR imaging. US has an advantage over other cross-sectional modalities in many circumstances due to its superior spatial resolution and ability to allow dynamic assessment. When performing musculoskeletal US, the exami...
